LDS MODEST WEDDING DRESS

Modest dress has always been one of the hallmarks of membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dressing modestly shows respect for our bodies and for those around us – but what is the LDS bride supposed to do when all the commercial wedding dresses around her are sleeveless and backless? Here is what the LDS general authorities have to say about modesty.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ official modesty guidelines are contained in For the Strength of Youth. Brides should remember the following rules about modest wedding dresses:

• Skirts should be knee-length or longer.
• Slits in the skirt should not go higher than the knee.
• Wedding dress sleeves should cover the shoulder.
• Necklines should not be too low (i.e: no cleavage showing.)
• The back of the dress should not fall below the shoulder blades.
• Dresses should not be too tight or revealing in any other manner.

For the sake of modesty, most LDS couples also forgo the traditional “garter toss” at the wedding reception, even if they decide to purchase one as a keepsake.

EXCEPTION TO THE LDS DRESS CODE

Of course there are some situations where wearing meeting all the LDS standards of modesty may not be possible – such as swimming or participation in certain sports teams with uniforms. But according to the general authorities, Mormon weddings are not one of those situations.

For the Strength of Youth specifically says you should “never lower your dress standards for any occasion. Doing so sends the message that you are using your body to get attention and approval and that modesty is important only when it is convenient.”

When shopping for a wedding dress, modesty may not be exactly convenient, but it is possible. Beautiful Mormon wedding gowns that meet all the LDS standards of modesty are out there if brides know where to look.

MORMON TEMPLE GARMENTS AND MODEST GOWNS

Another factor in modest wedding day dress is the temple garment. If the bride is getting married in the LDS temple or has been previously endowed, she will be wearing her garments beneath her wedding dress.

What if you need to pick out your wedding dress before you receive your garments? As long as you follow the standards of modesty outlined in For the Strength of Youth, you should have no problem with your temple garments. But if you feel really unsure, take an endowed parent or friend with you to see the dress you like. They’ll be able to tell you whether it will cover the temple garment.

The way most brides dress today, it can be difficult to find modest wedding gowns for LDS weddings. But with some hard work and determination, you can find a beautiful dress that also satisfies all the LDS standards of modesty for the best wedding day possible.

GORGEOUS WEDDING HAIRSTYLES FOR BRIDES TO BE

We all know that the wedding dress is the biggest eye catcher on any bride, but what about the bride’s number one accessory? Her hair. Today I’m bringing you 15 gorgeous wedding hairstyles for brides to be. The bride’s hair always catches my eye when I am browsing through real weddings and styled shoots. Below is a collection of some of my most recent favorites. Which style is your favorite?

BRAIDS | Braids are a huge trend and they make for the perfect wedding hair look. You can incorporate a small braid as an accent piece or make it the main focus of your look.

BUNS | Buns are perfect if you are going for a classic and elegant look. Paired with a sparkly accessory, a flower, or left alone, the bun is a beautiful accent to a long and sophisticated gown.

CURLS | Long wavy curls has always been one of my favorite bridal looks. This style is so versatile and can be worn for an elegant look or a more casual and relaxed beach styled wedding.

I am sure that you will love them and that you will find the perfect one for your big day.

HAIR BRAID TUTORIALS

I think part of my weakness for 1940's hair is how *neat and pretty* it is at the same time as it's *securely stowed.* Pin these styles well enough (and maybe even pomade them a little, I don't know), and you don't have to be terrified of wind. You can go on about your business without forever worrying about your hair. And that's s worth something.  Here are some steps you can braid your hair in different styles.

Romantic Loose Side Braid
Braided hairstyles are really easy to be done and they always look perfect!

Waterfall Hair Braid

The waterfall braid definitely takes a few tries before you'll have it perfectly, but the final result is so pretty, it's totally worth it. Check out the step-by-step below.

1. Starting near your hairline, pick up three strands of hair, as if you're starting a French braid.
2. Cross the strand closest to the top of your head (1) over the middle section (2).
3. Cross the bottom section (3) over the new middle section (1).
4. Cross the new top section (2) over the new middle (3), and then the bottom (1) over the middle (2).
5. Drop the middle strand (2) down, so it blends in with the rest of your hair.
6. Pick up a piece about the same size from near your part.
7. This strand (4) becomes your new top section—cross it over the middle to continue the braid.
8. Cross the bottom strand (1) over the new section (4), and repeat steps 2-8 all the way around your head.
9. When you get behind your opposite ear, do a normal, three-strand braid for about an inch.
10. Secure the braid behind your ear with a bobby pin. We used hot pink for a fun pop of color!
*Have you mastered the waterfall braid?

   Fishtail Braid

Never learned how to fishtail braid? You're not alone, Lol! And this ethereal, intricate-looking 'do might look intimidating. But it's important to remember that braiding is probably the simplest hair skill to master. All you really need is a pair of hands and a hair tie -- no hot tools or hair products necessary. These fishtail braid instructions are easy to understand, and you only have to follow simple steps (as shown above). I also make sure the pictures are clear so you will  know how it's being done.

Time to break out the elastics, stretch out your fingers, and get ready to unleash your inner hair stylist. Keep clicking to see exactly how to fishtail braid.

I hope you enjoy these hair braid tutorials!

How To Make Nutella Truffles?

Easy as 1-2-3. How about special Nutella chocolate truffles this weekend?
My husband and I are planning to go to Marinduque this weekend with church friends. It's a 12-hr drive, so I thought of something to eat while travelling. I think this one's best for us!

Ingredients:

            1/2 cup heavy cream (120ml)
             4 1/2 oz semi-sweet chocolate (130g)
   1/3 cup Nutella (110g)
   Cocoa powder

Instructions:

1. Add heavy cream in a sauce pan and bring it to a boil. Pour the boiling hot cream into the chocolate and stir until the chocolate is melt and the mixture is homogeneous.
2. Add in Nutella and stir until homogeneous.
3. Let cool in the refrigerator until the mixture is set.
4. Make small balls with teaspoonful of truffle. And roll in the cocoa powder. Keep refrigerated before serving.

This is also a perfect treat for your hungry buddies! Enjoy these delightful Nutella truffles.

Bon Appetite!

How To Make Your Journal Appealing?

Recently, journals at PBO center get more expensive. So, I thought of just buying a notebook and revive it. Aside from having a journal, I also have a study journal wherein I write everything I learn during the day. But for this year, I needed another study journal.

Last night after work, I ran straight to the bookstore and bought some designed papers, notebook and colored pens. (I really can't wait to do this).

Materials you need:
*Notebook
*Colored||designed paper
*Colored pens||highlighter
*glue||scotch tape
*scissors

Cover the notebook's cover with designed paper. Make sure each side is evenly folded.

Next, paste the edge of the paper to the notebook cover to seal it (as shown below). *For this, I used glue because I feel like it can hold the paper more and will give a clean outcome.

If not satisfied, you can use scotch tape. *press gently

At the bottom, you can see excess paper. You may cut them out (see pictures below).

Fold both sides in a triangular shape.

Fold again. (as shown) *press and paste

It will then look like this. (Do the same thing on the other side of the cover).

I love these stickers, so I'm going to put them in.

                                                             Here you go!

                                                           More stickers!

On that same night, I started to write something I learn from my personal study. The outside looks appealing already, and for you to enjoy studying and find joy in writing, try to make the inside appealing also by using images, sticky notes and colored pencils.

Keeping a journal is really important and rewarding, writing down what we have been prompted with is vital. A special learning can be lost in the day through the rough and tumble of life. God should not and may not, choose to repeat the prompting if we assign what is given such a low priority as to put it aside. Because of the records of our ancestors we were guided, so as we, we will bless the lives of many future generations if we continue to keep our journals.
